Guardian: Queen Ysolde the Mourning
Vorath's queen, locked away and forgotten in the vaults while her husband descended to the Ember Heart.
Queen Ysolde married Vorath when he was still a prince who laughed easily. The gold locket clasped in her hands holds a tiny portrait of him from that day, before the fear of death ate him away until only ambition was left.
On the night of the ritual Vorath sent his queen down to wait in the vaults with the nobles. “I will come back for you, when neither of us can ever die.” When the city fell, the nobles barred the doors from inside in terror. Ysolde stood waiting at that door while the air slowly ran out, and her bridal veil turned the black of mourning.
Three hundred years later she is still waiting. Her tattered violet gown melts into shadowy smoke at the hem, both hands hold the locket to her heart, and tears of shadow run down her pale cheeks. Whoever opens the vault door, she begs them to stay with her, and she will never let anyone leave her again.
