The palace of Caldria, sunk whole beneath the earth. Its knights still stand watch in the scorched halls, awaiting orders from a king who will never speak again.
Guardian: The Hollow King
The body of King Vorath, still wearing the iron crown: a mere husk his soul left behind upon the throne.
On the night of the ritual Vorath sat on the iron throne in the great hall, both hands on the pommel of the royal sword planted before him, just as on the day he was crowned. When the Ember Heart flared, his soul was torn down into the flame, and his body was left on the throne like a skin a snake has shed.
The whole palace sank underground with it. The guards who swore to protect their king to their last breath still stand their watch beside the throne, though their breath ran out long ago. No one ever told them that what sits on the throne is no longer the king.
The hollow husk still remembers its owner's last command: none shall pass. Under the iron helm there is only darkness and two embers for eyes, and the fur-trimmed red mantle still hangs proudly from its shoulders. When intruders come, the Hollow King rises from the throne with the great sword in its hands and calls its guard to defend what has nothing left to defend.
